Cheap Flights To Mauritius

Mauritius, a small volcanic island lying southwest in the Indian Ocean is a piece of paradise. Its tropical climate, golden beaches, inviting ocean, rainforests, waterfalls and lush green flora is medicine for the soul. This gem of an island was first named ‘Ilha do Cirne’ in 1507, ‘Mauritius’ in 1598, ‘Isle de France’ in 1715 and around 1810 reverted back to ‘Mauritius’. The island was home to the Dutch (1638-1710), the French (1715-1810) and the British (1810-1968) enduring a fairly turbulent history including the beheading of Ratsitatane, nephew to King Radama of Madagascar, on 15th April 1822.

An oasis of natural tranquil beauty with past and present unified, Mauritius is colourful with friendly people, a ‘laid-back’ relaxed atmosphere, a satisfying cuisine and besides sunshine and sea, a rich bounty of pleasurable attractions for every type of visitor.
